The Village was buzzing tonight and great fun.

If the villagers are not tired of Christmas Festivities the St Wilfrids PTA Christmas Fayre is on Friday 7th with lots of stalls and fun festive things for all, from 6pm-8pm everyone welcome.

Thanks, Patty, but credit goes to No. 1 son, Philip, who spent some time on this. I also had a go but my effort was not as good!

Lulu, I take it that you cannot see the AVL heading capped in snow. I assume you reach these Forums by coming through the main portal www.angmeringvillage.co.uk and then to the Forums. It may be a 'cache' problem whereby your PC is storing and bringing up old files. You could first try doing a full "Refresh" (Ctrl + F5). If that does not work go into your browser and go to Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History, and then delete "Temporary Files" and then start again. However, it may depend on what version of the I.E. browser you are using as to the location of the Browsing History.

A very Happy Christmas to all readers and registered members of these Forums which are shortly to celebrate their second birthday.

While there have been some tense moments over this period, there has also been some entertaining banter and some very useful comments on village matters.

Looking forward to having some new participants in 2008. [xo][8~2][:x)]

I have come tonight to a very deep and meaningful conclusion that Angmering and the villagers that live there are not very happy people most of the time (unless they are moaning!) as nobody has posted a happy moment since Christmas Day and that was Neil!!!!

Come on you folks smiles costs nothing.

well just how wrong can you be VoR?????

I was about to post tonight to say how happy I was to see the new bollard outside the PC office.

The mind conjures up several reasons why it is there, but my happiest thought is that of the Parish Councillors practising their pole dancing routine for perhaps the carnival this year???
[88]
Any other happy thoughts about the bollard??

I am happy because I have been able to park outside the local shops this week without having to wait for someone to vacate a spot first.[88][(#)][88]

The bollards are there because WSCC thought that the 'gentleman' who parked his car there every morning whilst he went and got his newspaper, might have been causing a bit of a problem to other drivers coming down the hill. As if anyone would do a thing like not considering other road users.

Never judge what you don't understand.

That reason is much too simple and logical Nigel.
I much prefer the pole dancing.
Dont know all the ladies that are on the PC but I do know the ladies in the office and Patty of course - reckon she would be game.
How about Mark in the chippy so long as he wears his apron, and I guess it has to be the chairman leading the example.

Could raise some money for charity at the same time!![x2x]

other option is a leap frogging competition. Ooh the mind boggles[88]

I am very happy Mrs. Angmering.
Tonight I went to the Lamb for a meal with my better half and it was scrumtious.
Fresh veggies, well cooked and extemely eatable is the best expression i can think of.
Didnt have room for a pudding but watching what was coming out of the kitchen they looked good enough to eat as well.

Well done new people at the Lamb, you are ding a splendid job.
Best meals that have ever been served there.
Thankyou

So, VOR, is this how it's going to be, you appearing once a month to moan about everyone moaning?

I'm moaning about you moaning about us moaning.

Stop moaning.

As for me, of course I've been happy, ask Derek, just less prolific due to the absence of you and others that used to be such fun.

Seems to me that your spontaneity now has its time and its place.

Well, I am very happy tonight.

I was at the Church earlier this evening and there were a group of around 8 youngsters in the graveyard. They weren't doing any damageor making a mess, but they were sitting and laying across the graves.
I went over and had a word with them and explained that this place had to have their respect.
They listened and we talked about it. They were respectful to me. They did not argue and seemed to understand what I was trying to tell them. There was no raised voices, and they agreed and left quietly.

Now, some of you may just say I was lucky, but hopefully, it just proves once again, that if you talk to these youngsters properly, they are not as bad as people tend to make out.

I am proud of them and glad that I have put so much effort into getting this bus for them.

So, Happy happy day.
ps - then I went on to a Parish Council meeting and even enjoyed that!

Well guess what......It's the July 5th

Oh who gives a dam!

Just read the posts about the community centre and the church re-ordering.

Much of Angmering was un-happy again during the last month.

Keep up the good work Neil.

VoR, the Happy Page is not the place for your cynical comments (or my own!). There are plenty of other places on these Forums in which to write them! Forums in general are often places where people like to have a moan. Angmering is no exception, but that does not make it an unhappy place to live.

Some people in the village are clearly unhappy with the community centre and church re-ordering but others may be ecstatic. Try to look for the positive things and not the negative things that have happened in the village this year and you will see that 2008 has been a brilliant year so far. Here are some examples:

The craftsmanship on the church extensions is most pleasing and will really look good when completed irrespective of whether people agree with them or not in principle.

Little Henry Usborne was lost but now found and a stone will commemorate him.

The Angmering Youth Forum bought a bus for the local youth and village people are rallying round to support this project.

The Village Hall is celebrating its 80th Anniversary this month and there has been much support from village organisations.

Appasionata is coming to the Village Hall this Saturday. Have you bought your programme yet?

The Village Market on Fletcher's Field next month is booked to capacity with stalls etc.

The Skatepark project has come to fruition and will be opened in two weeks' time. Additionally, a BMX track has come as a bonus.

The long empty ex-chemist shop opened as a bright new electrical shop.

The boutique charity shop, dizzy, opened and has been really successful benefiting the village and the diabetes charity.

The Lamb, with new managers, seems to be buzzing again.

It's been announced that the run-down Presbytery in Arundel Road is at last going to be inhabited again after conversion and refurbishment.

The Library was completely refurbished and re-opened with a Children's Centre and is now open Monday to Saturday (i.e. 2 extra days).

Ecclesden Mill was restored with a lovely new cap making a great landmark.

The hours of the Angmering Medical Centre have been extended and better access to the Centre has been constructed.

Due to demand, a second Brownie pack is starting - the 2nd Angmering.

The small football club for youngsters - Preston Blades - has taken off and will be entering the leagues in September.

The May Day celebrations for the schools was one of the happiest events I have seen in the village and filled me full of hope and warmth.

Many village organisations have raised money for Chestnut Tree House this year.

Additional street lighting has been installed in various parts of the village.

We had snow in April and families really enjoyed this rare occasion.

Personally, 2008 has been a difficult year for me and Rita, which included a family bereavement, but the fantastic news is that our first grandchild is on the way!

.......there may be other happy events that you can think of!

I'm also happy because a first time entry I put in the Angmering Flower and Produce Show yesterday got a second place! It was a lovely afternoon, well done to all the organisers!

It’s just a shame that there are very few postings of happy events put on these pages now days.

Most people only post to argue a point as you have just done yourself; I have done in the past and indeed am doing now.

The funny banter has gone and in my opinion the forum pages are worse for it!

Mr Angry has also stopped being witty maybe because he to is drained of humour.

Indeed your list of happy events is welcome but was not posted by others on the happy pages but you in defence of my unhappy post.

So life goes on ….let’s just hope rather than many picking holes in things such as the church reordering, the location of the community centre, we can all move on to a happier forum that aims to solve problems and not give voice to those wishing to create a platform for scoring points from one another and having sly digs.

Of course people can have opinions but there are ways and means of expressing these in a sensitive manner this is why I for one have lost interest to a certain extent in these forum pages.

One other thing you should know from my past postings I often play devils advocate just for fun…..and it seems to me some just can’t resist the bait!!!

Well, I am happy, that so many youth were hapy with the new skatepark that opened yesterday.

The atmosphere was excellent and the youth were more than on their best behaviour.

It was a pleasure and a delight to see it all.

Well done to everyone who has worked so hard at getting this....
and to all the people who voted for the lottery money!

A lot of people are very happy.

I am very happy.
I received £20 from Nigel - Chairman of Parish Council as a donation for the Youth Forum bus project, which was their donation from the ice cream van.
Thanks Nigel, and thanks Parish Council (again).
My very best wishes for the skatepark and all the youth that use it.

I am happy because I have a new job of which I start on Monday. Not so happy for the fact that the job is in Dorset so have to leave my wife and daughters during the week and will only see them at the weekend. Longer term, having to put the house on the market so we can all move to Dorset. I will still be checking on AVL though so you can't get rid of me that easily!!

My glass is always half full....never half empty....what about you??
