I have received a scam e-mail which seems to have been generated from info on this forum. I would recommend that whoever is in charge of the site take some action in case someone more trusting than I falls victim. That said, I am playing along in order to gather as much info on the originator. Follows the e-mail received on 25/04/2011....

You received the following message from: angel334 (fastsonja@yahoo.com)

I needed to move this fund out of this country as soon as possible and your assistance is needed for my investments in your country, I am ready to relocate out of this country immediately and come over there to your country to secure a business opportunity. I wish to invest in HOSPITAL EQUIPEMENTS / MUSICAL EQUIPMENTS/ AUTOMOBILES /AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS and REAL ESTATE; I need to invest the money abroad because of my situation here, besides we do not have fair investment opportunities here because of frequent political crisis.

These are quite common and i would be surprised if anyone believes them. They are regularly caught by our spam filter. TBH I would credit it with what it deserves and just delete it. By responding you are confirming your email address to them.

I have just stopped working at LA Post office, and can assure you that we dealt with MANY vulnerable people sending non-traceable money all over the World, despite our warnings......

Angel334 has been deleted as a Forum member. Any individual can register for these Forums and then start sending spam emails to members and there is not a great deal forum administrators can do about that, other than to remove them when brought to attention.

Most experts consider that recipients of this type of scam should not respond as it can confirm a person's email address and open them up to further spam and the possibility of finding out more information about that person.

This particular scam is one of the most common types and most of us have received dozens of such messages over the years. From experience, it is often unnecessary to even open up an email - the subject is often a giveaway and can be immediately deleted.

There are many sites like this http://www.419baiter.com/games/joyceeze.html that waste the spammers' time so that they have less time to actually spam.

Go to the homepage and you'll find more like this, there's some funny stuff.

One of the funniest ones I ever saw - probably not this particular site - ended up with the guy arranging to meet the spammer at an airport with a board around his neck with the guy's name on. But he asked the spammer to post a photo of himself wearing the board, and he did. Big grin, baseball cap worn side-one and a board around his neck reading "IAMA WAYNE KERR"

it drops straight into my spam folder, there seems to be a fresh influx of them at the moment, you would have thought they'd change their method

Iv'e had one similar saying "WE ARE SORRY YOU HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT. Then click to rectify.
Well I knew I had no problems and deleted. It seems it could come under several headings.
Thanks for the warning BRAM
