Neil has identified a new website on his news page, set up to alert residents of Angmering, of the dangers of further building within our village.
I support this cause, I feel the residents of Angmering need a breather from more residential construction.
However, having looked at a couple of the pages of the saveangmering website, unless I am mistaken, they start from a position which is incorrect. They state:-
"Following the governments announcement that Arun must provide 11,500 new homes from 2006 to 2026........"
Is this not the stance of the previous Government, dictating to local councils how many properties must be built?
My understanding is that the new Coalition Government scrapped this direction within weeks of coming to power, and are leaving it to the discretion of each local council as to how many properties are now to be planned.
On that basis, Arun have cancelled the previous LDF and are in the process of consulting and arranging an alternative strategy, including a meeting in Angmering.
If that is the case, I would have thought, for this new website to put up initially as their base principle, a totally outdated target, would lose the credibility that it will need to provide accurate direction and authority. |

You may well be right Bert. However, while central government has cancelled the framework, it is not clear at this stage if local councils have actually scrapped their LDF or are formulating the previous plans into a new document under a different guise.
That is why it is important that as many people as possible attend the Public Meeting at the Community Centre on 26 January to question Arun District Council and to make our feelings known if they are still going to try and push through large scale or inappropriate housing. |

The Government has announced that it intends to remove regionally imposed house building targets and return responsibility to set these to the local level. Consequently, Arun District Council would like your views on the number of homes that should be built in the Arun district over the next 17 years up to the year 2028.
To this end, an Open Meeting is being held at Angmering Community Centre, Foxwood Avenue, Bramley Green TONIGHT (Wednesday 26 January) at 7.30pm.
If you have any interest in future housing in Angmering, it is essential that you attend the meeting and make your views known.
