The Lamb reopens after a thorough cleaning this Saturday at 7.30pm, the new landlord and landlady, Dave and Ali would love to meet as many people as possible and to hear your thoughts on what you want to make this a great traditional Village Inn once again, see you hopefully on Saturday for a complimentry buffet

Unless The Lamb starts to get some stability, it could be doomed.

We went down for a meal on Saturday with some friends but was told meals were not being served because the chef had gone and new landlords were moving in. This is the third time this year we have had to look elsewhere for a meal. Perhaps we have just been unlucky.

None of us want this to happen. Punch and landlords have got to get their act together!

I have offered every single landlord/manager in the last few years to publicise any special event at the pub for them. NOT A SINGLE ONE HAS TAKEN UP THE OFFER!

Went in The Lamb last night only to discover the new landlords have removed the pool table, dart board, jukebox and will not be showing any sport in the pub at all!It seems they want to turn the pub into more of a food pub rather than the traditional meeting place for the locals.

In these lean times this spells disaster for the pub and for Angmering as a village.Lets hope they see sense and return to a mixture of the old and new.

The Lamb has clearly not been a success for some years, with the pool table, dart board, jukebox and the showing of sport.

This does appeal to a certain clientel, but others will not go near the place.

If something "isn't broke," then "don't mend it."

If it "is broke" then perhaps an alternative strategy to achieve a different objective is the answer.

Good luck to them. I hope they do well.

Personally, I thought pool tables, dart boards and jukeboxes went out of fashion about 20 years ago.

I think that the sports club still has some of the facilities that the Lamb has now removed.I feel that the pub will now appeal to more people.I like the Spotted Cow , but it is small and I for one will now go to the Lamb as I did not like it as it used to be.Good Luck to the New Managers!

Went to the Lamb for lunch today and enjoyed a really good roast - also good portions. New landlords have a large and varied Sunday menu of which roasts are only a part. Weekday menu is even more extensive. Looks promising. Service was also good.

Lounge bar and public bar have swapped over. This allows more tables in the lounge bar for eating.

The Worlds End always seems to be a roaring success, so if a food pub's what it takes for the place to survive, better that than no pub at all, imo.

I agree Hayley, have always found the World's End to be a really good place to eat and would love to see the same atmosphere at the Lamb

I have driven past the lamb the last few days at different times of the day, it seems to be dead in side at times when there used to be quite a few people in there drinking. Lets hope they see sense soon and put the bars back the way used to be with a pool table and jukebox! But on a plus side i hear the social club has picked up a lot of new business!

When I went past the pub last night it was closed at half nine! The barmaid was in the village shop and said to me they had no clients in for the last hour so she closed up!!

Yes Beernard, when a pub goes through the transition from a "drinking" pub to an "eating" pub, this type of thing does occur.

On a Sunday, most people have their main meal at lunchtime. I expect they were quite busy at lunchtime.

Sunday evenings can be rather quiet, now winter is upon us. The managers and staff will be able to anticipate the busy times and the quiet times and manage the pub accordingly.

I hope they do well.

Bert, Its not the first time i have seen the pub shut at half nine since the new management have been there and after having a look at the menu and the prices they are charging i dont think it will be the last time it shuts early in the evening. Its a shame as it was a nice place to meet up with friends for a beer and listen to some music and play pool.I wonder how long before it gets yet another new set of managers!

I went into the lamb for food the other day and it was nice to see that the new landlords are trying to re instate a friendly village local and not the sports bar that was.

But Angmering be warned. If locals dont support this business by spending some of their pennies in there, it is likely to fail in these very tough times. So get in there use it and let the staff and management know what you like and dont like, they need your input to make it a success. it is up to you.

The Lamb is now back on my list to drive out to for lunch/dinner. Good Luck.

We went for a meal in The Lamb on Saturday - our 2nd since the new landlords took over - and again we were very impressed. There is a very good selection of meals and snacks and the prices were reasonable - especially so when you saw the size of the meals. One of our friends selected the pork loin steaks. What turned up on the plate was TWO 6 and a half oz steaks. Where else would you get that for the price! Other friends who went for a meal last Sunday were equally impressed.

Unfortunately there is not a great deal of profit in beer sales and pubs must now push food if they are to survive. I hope the village beer drinkers are not boycotting The Lamb just to try and get the jukebox and the old bar back. If they are, they may succeed in killing pub altogether!

i know it's not the way pubs usually promote themselves, but i reckon it would be a good idea for them to do a flyer through village letterboxes to let people know about their changes and menu...

if you change stuff for the better but don't tell anyone, it isn't going to make much difference

hello nice to meet you ;o)

Understand that The Lamb did issue menu flyers today to people who had their papers delivered by Woodies News. There was not one in my paper that I collected from the shop.

How many readers received one of these?

I agree with you 240felicia. Perhaps a general leaflet drop to all Angmering households would be effective.
