As can be seen on Neil's news page, Haskins have applied for full planning permission to completely re-develop the garden centre on the A.259.
I understand they had an initial planning application approved in 2005, due to the building being old and in need of updating, and had five years in which to make full application, which they have now done.
This will entail the complete demolition of the centre as it stands and re-developed on exactly the same site and should look very impressive.
The planning application indicates demolition will commence in Feb 2011 and hope to re-open in March 2012.
The demolition and new build will take a little longer than I would have expected, but it is a fairly substantial project.
Proposal looks good. I'm pleased that archaeological investigations will be undertaken. Roman and other finds were made when Bramley Green and the by-pass were excavated.
The rebuild is taking longer than you may expect as Haskins will continue trading during the period, therefore the jobs of the people who work there will be safe.
