I agree with the vast majority of matters that Neil puts on this website and he deals with everything in a very even-handed manner.
But I do not agree with putting a list of recent property prices on the News page as has happened today. I assume this is to continue on a monthly basis.
I fully appreciate this information is in the public domain and that it can be obtained through the Land registry and other websites. Some if not most individuals selling or buying property in Angmering will feel this is personal and private information, albeit it can be obtained through these channels, but I feel if individuals are interested, it should be left for them to obtain that information, not a monthly list on this News page, for all to see.
I am not buying or selling in the forseeable future so have no personal involvement in this, but I was very surprised to see this list.

I thought it was quite interesting! Gives us a broad cross section of property prices in our area which a search on an individual property (in the case of most peoples serach parameters) would not give you.
I personally don't think its a problem.
What is the precise nature of your objection Bert? Privacy? |

| I have emails sent to me when properties that have been sold in Angmering and other areas I have lived in are registered with Land Registry , I like to see what is happening in the market. But could see how the new home owners may object although personally it would not bother me. |

I do have some sympathy with Bert's concerns and was waiting for some reaction as I was torn whether or not to include it. All this information is in the public domain.
Please let's have some more feedback with your views. I will not take it personally. If the majority of people are against publishing this information, I will not include it on the News page in future months.
What I would say is that having this information assisted me in getting a Council Tax band reduction on my own house. |

Jammer, as I indicated, many people would find this information as being personal and private, albeit we all usually know the price a property is put on the market for, but there may be reasons why a seller or buyer may not wish the residents of the village to know the final price.
This also sets a precedent which we have not previously had. It is, compared with previous news items which one accepts as news, quite unusual.
Are we for example going to have a list of the amounts left in deceased persons wills, who resided in Angmering. The information is not widely available, but can be obtained from the Probate Office, and is therefore in the public domain, much the same as property prices available at the Land Registry. Many people would find this interesting.
I would turn the question around, and ask:
Why, after all these years has it been decided to include this information? Is there a specific reason? |

I too use a Property Prices update to show sold prices in our Postcode. It may be less intrusive for Neil to post a couple of links to such sites so that people can choose to look up specific information. In that way, it is still available in the public domain. I am not sure if this website is the place for house prices to be posted. |

Including property prices seems too controversial so I'm going to delete the item from the News page.
If anybody is interested in finding out about prices of houses sold in Angmering, they can get these sent to them monthly by subscribing at www.ourproperty.co.uk
