It good to see that there are plans for the empty building next to Virgin Active. The farm shop and cafe sound good. Not so sure about a fast food outlet. I think the road approaching it may need improving to handle the increased activity. Anyone have any information on the developement?
Looking at the planning application, it states that the main use will be as a restaurant and café. The number of staff that would be employed would total about 143 full and part time. Broken down into full time equivalents the numbers are:
But who is going to use the large restaurant which will probably have nearly 90 full time and part time staff - those coming out of Virgin Active (Esporta)?
It looks as if the Farm Shop will be predominantly selling West and East Sussex produce.
This venture looks a big risk to me. Although it is a very pleasant location, is it a location that will attract a lot of "passing trade?"..I suspect not.
For such a business, employing so many, to be a success, it will require substantial local visitors plus substantial passing trade. I'm not convinced it will get either in sufficient numbers, however good it may be.
