My Wife & I popped into The Lamb on a couple of occasions for a beer with our 6 month old daughter during the first few weeks of opening without any problems. In fact our Baby seemed to lighten the place up a little with people chatting with us & showing a keen interest in pulling silly faces ! Anyways my parents were down for the weekend & we were keen on showing them the latest addition to the ever growing appeal (for them) of Angmering. We were however very dissapointed to be refused service due to having a child under 14 with us despite this being perfectly acceptable on or previous visits ! I think this is a shame (not to mention embarrasing)and certainly won't be visiting The Lamb for drinks or food anytime soon if ever ! Thankfully The Spotted Cow were more than welcoming |

Dear Roman Rocker, As we explained to you on your last visit, we do not have a licence for children in the bar of The Lamb. We made it clear you would be very welcome to have drinks in the Coterie, which is the restaurant room. We were sorry you took offence and left, we try to ensure everbody is welcome. As you are aware we have only just opened and I apologise to you if staff on your earier visits did not point out the restriction, they should have done so. If you go onto the Internet to www.timetravel-britain.com you will see on the site the following:-'Licensing laws:- A child under 14 if accompanied by an adult, is allowed into the bar area if the pub has a childrens certificate. These pubs usually make it clear that children are welcome'. Unfortunately we do not hold such a certificate. Children are very welcome at The Lamb in 'The Coterie'. We have 3 high chairs for dining and are pleased to see the kids enjoy themselves. My family dined on Sunday evening with our beautiful 9 month old granddaughter in one of the high chairs, it was her first visit to The Lamb. It was a wonderful experience for my wife and I. I hope at some time you will return for a meal with us for a similar experience. Again my appologies for our staff not making our licence clear to you on a previous visit. |

Dear Questor, Not sure if it was you I spoke to at the bar ? It certainly wasn't explained to me you were not licenced & neither was the Coterie offered as an alternative. " I'm sorry children are not allowed in the bar" was the only information I was given apart from the fact that the staff should have informed me before. Not a problem as you say the law is the law & if you don't hold a licence then fair enough. Hope all goes well & well done on the transformation. |

Dear Roman Rocker, I have an apology to make to you. My son eldest Son has just informed me this afternoon that I should keep up with the current law. It would seem that it is no longer a requirement for us to have a childrens certificate. I will discuss the information he has given me with my management team and reply shortly. thanks for your good wishes, kind regards, Questor |

Dear Roman Rocker, Further to my post above. We have decided to allow Children in the bar during the summer months until 6 pm in the evenings. From today they would be very welcome. As you know the Bar at the Lamb is not particularly wide and does get very busy some nights of the week, we feel that after 6 pm it could become uncomfortable for Children. In addition we have a large open fire that is active in cold weather, this is a major safety concern for us with Children in our bar. So we shall revert to a 'No Children in the Bar' policy during the winter months. Children as stated in a previous post are very welcome at all times in 'The Coterie', our main restaurant, where 3 highchairs are available for parents use. We hope we have done all we can to accomodate your family and other children and I appologise again for our oversight. We look forward to seeing you at The Lamb again, kind regards Questor |
