Signs have gone up next to the railway station saying the level crossing will be closed from 12 to 26 Sept.
So that's 2 weeks of diversion to look forward to! East down to the Roundstone crossing, which is bad enough at the best of times, or west along to the bridge by the Windmill.
The bridge is planned for much further East. It has been great this weekend being able to get across without getting caught for ages. They should do engineering work more often.
The level crossing was open today - barriers permitting. Not sure what they were working on, but it sure wasn't filling in the holes.
Be careful what you ask for - you just might get it. The views expressed in this posting are those of the author and must not be taken as representing any commercial, religious, political or other body.
I didn't see any work at all being done to the crossing itself. They did however have the road up laying services into those new homes on the East Preston side where the pub used to be.
the lady at the post office there told me it was closed for works connecting services to the new flats
awful really, i can imagine businesses in station parade have lost a lot of business the past fortnight, and there's nothing they can do about it... seems wrong that the construction company can do that to local businesses and not have to compensate them for loss of income...
