...

It has been made possible thanks to a donation in memory of Roy Huse, who was a West Sussex librarian from 1970 to 1992. Annual Parish Meeting and Awards - 30th April

Chair of Angmering Parish Council, Cllr Nikki Hamilton-Street, opened the evening by warmly welcoming everyone and sharing a snapshot of Angmering Parish Council’s achievements over the past year. This was followed by an open questions session, giving residents the opportunity to raise points, ask questions and engage directly with councillors. Beccy Cooper MP, presented the awards to the Parish's very worthy winners before taking part in a Q&A session, answering questions and listening carefully to residents’ concerns.

The evening was made especially memorable by the award winners, each of whom brought something unique and heartfelt to the stage. There was a truly passionate and moving speech from Angela Colliss (see photo 1), accepting the Fred Rowley Award on behalf of herself and the Protect Farmland West of Bewley Road group. Her words powerfully captured the determination, commitment and unity shown by so many residents. In contrast, Freda Smith (see photo 2), recipient of the Alison Reigate Award, demonstrated real humility, describing her years of service as “just doing her job.” Her modesty and lifelong dedication were clearly appreciated by everyone present. The room lit up as the Young Volunteer of the Year award was presented to the Sunday Roast Serving Team (see photo 3). The smiles on their faces said it all – a wonderful group of young people whose kindness and commitment make a genuine difference to others. Well done Evie Latham, Mabel Cresswell, Charlie Knox, Isobel Knox, Sophie Ball and Ethan Ball. And finally, the Volunteer of the Year award went to Bridget, David and the impeccably well-behaved Nancy (see photo 4).

WADARS, The Parish Council's Charity of the Year last year, were presented with their cheque for an impressive £3,174.82 – a wonderful reflection of the generosity of our community. The evening concluded with an update from Littlehampton Community Fridge, The Council's current Charity of the Year, about the fantastic work they continue to do in supporting local people.
