The Dell road closures

West Sussex County Council has announced road closures on The Dell for the week commencing Monday 13 March 2023 for "Carriageway Microasphelt Surfacing". Lansdowne Road and Lansdowne Close are also scheduled for the same work in that week. Greenwood Drive is scheduled for resurfacing on 15th and 16th April the week AFTER the schools' Easter Holidays!

Micro asphalt surface treatment is a preventative maintenance treatment, used to seal the existing road surface, improve the texture and helps water evaporate. This type of surface treatment can prolong the life of a road by up to 10 years. It is mostly used in residential areas with slower moving traffic. The work involves applying a base and top layer of slurry to the existing road surface. The treatment acts as liquid when first applied, but this dries within 30 minutes and is then ready for traffic. Following the treatment, loose stones may remain on the road surface for a period and temporary road signs are used to advise motorists and motorcyclists to drive carefully.

Housebuilder creates network of nestboxes

Recent reports reveal that nearly half of the planet's bird species are in decline, with the UK continuing to witness sustained threats to its native bird populations. To protect local bird populations in Angmering, David Wilson Homes is giving away 30 free build-your-own nestbox kits to the local community, which are available to collect from its Ecclesden Park development on Water Lane.

The selection of self-construction kits have been released in celebration of National Nestbox Week (14th-21st February), and are available for local families to collect from the Sales and Marketing Suite onsiteThe kits are made from sustainably sourced FSC-certified wood, and the outside of the box can be decorated using markers or paint. Once built, residents are invited to install the nestbox outside in their garden, providing shelter for birdlife including blue tits, house sparrows, and wagtails.

Kimberley Benson, Director of Sales and Marketing for David Wilson Southern Counties, comments: "We are once again donating build-your-own nestbox kits to local families in the South East, an initiative that has seen several hundred nestboxes installed over the last three years, providing a vast area of protected spaces for birds to take cover and nest this spring. We hope this donation can empower our residents to welcome wildlife into their outside spaces this year. These nestboxes will contribute to our wider network of sustainable measures at Ecclesden Park, where we will be introducing swift nesting bricks, hedgehog highways and planted wildflowers."

This initiative forms part of the housebuilder's pledge to provide 120 nestboxes to communities nearby to its developments in Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Wokingham during National Nestbox Week. Local families can reserve their nestbox and time slot to collect the kits by emailing ecclesdenpark@dwh.co.uk. Ecclesden Park is located on Water Lane, Angmering, BN16 4EP.

This year, David Wilson Southern Counties' Ecclesden Park development is providing a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes to the local property market in Angmering. Prices start from £369,995 for a two-bedroom energy-efficient house, and David Wilson Southern Counties is offering a contribution towards your mortgage, deposit or moving and running costs on selected plots. If you are interested in a new home at Ecclesden Park, please visit the show home onsite or call the sales office on 0333 3558 499. Further information is available at www.dwh.co.uk.
