The Church Roof

The work on the re-roofing of St Margaret's Church starts on Monday April 4th when the scaffolding will be erected. For the week of the 4th, the church carpark will be closed and so will the two footpaths round the church. Access to the office and the hall will be via Rectory Lane or The Thatchway and entrance to the office via the west door.

Once the scaffold is erected part of the carpark and paths will be opened until the scaffold is removed when they will be re-closed.

The contractors expect to complete the work by Friday June 17th. During the week, the chairs in the nave and side aisles will be stacked and covered to protect them from dust, as will the organ, for the entire period of the work. The metal chairs will be stacked after the Sunday evening service and put out again on the following Friday evening or Saturday morning.

From the above it is obvious that the use of the church itself will be extremely limited during the week and no arrangements at all should be made without first consulting the office.

Please will everyone take extra care when walking round the church and accessing the building.
This applies particularly during the week when there is always a risk of debris falling onto paths.

Richard Hance, Churchwarden

Proposed new equestrian bridge across the A27 Hammerpot area
The committee noted the email dated 3rd February, 2011 from Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald regarding the location of the proposed bridge, which is suggested as west of Hammerpot connecting with the local footpaths.

Fingerposts
The Committee agreed that there were two fingerposts that need repairing, one at the junction of Roundstone Lane and the High Street and one at the top of Dappers Lane. Councillor Bos will do a full review and report back to the Committee. The Senior Assistant Clerk will clarify the cost and if the 50% grant is still available from West Sussex County Council.

School entrepreneurs try "Dragons' Den" style pitching

On Wednesday 9th March students from The Angmering School held a Youth Enterprise Sport Business Masterclass with students Worthing High School and The Littlehampton Academy.

This involved students embracing cultural differences by investigating fair play making it relevant to both sport and everyday life, creating codes of conduct for their athletes and linking a new sport to their own community. At the end of the day the teams presented their ideas to three judges in a "Dragons' Den" style.

The event involved 30 students and they all worked really hard in designing a new sport for the Olympics. The students each had different roles with their team and worked hard to try and gain financial backing for their sport.

Mr Whiffin, Subject Leader PE at Angmering said: "The day was a great success and the students worked and behaved excellently. They demonstrated exceptional skills in developing a new sport for the Olympics".

There was excellent work and behaviour from Ed Green, Rebecca Green, Lily Griffiths, Kiera Harding, Evie Dryden, Alice Pickard, Tara Moynihan, Kyla Moore, and Lily Parisi.
