I use the pedestrian crossing in the village most every day at least once - (which would be twice as I have to get back from the butcher/baker/chippy/whatever) and I always - unless there's no traffic - wait not for the traffic light to go red or the man to go green, but for the traffic to stop ... or to be obviously slowing down to stop.
Today if I had not done that I'd either be in hospital or the morgue!
It's probably advised in the highway code anyway but if not, should be.
The vehicle that went through the red light turned right up Arundel Rd - I ran across the green hoping to stop it and give the driver a piece of my mind, but just missed it.
