Ferring country centre is in urgent need of old news papers to use as bedding for the Riding therapy horses. The centre has 14 horses which are used to give therapy lessons to adults with learning difficaulties and the disabled. Woodies news in Angmering has kindly offered to be a drop off point from where the centre staff will do a weekly collection or if you would like to drop the papers off to the centre your self, have a look round and see the good work that goes on at the centre, have a look round the garden centre and small animal farm and have a warm drink and a cake in the cafe! You will be made welcome by the staff and clients who use the day service. Collection from Woodies news will be every friday.
Are you looking for anything else??? We have a couple of horse blankets, a saddle and some riding helmets you can have if you require same. Or you may come and view same.
The rugs and saddle may be of use but we have to stick to current safety standards as far as riding hats go so it would depend on how old they are. If you drop them to the centre they would be greatfully recieved.
Hi Beernard, Is shredded paper any good? I probably have a couple of bin bags per week at work. I used to have a couple of horses in my livery yard on shredded paper due to dust allergies but that was specially produced for bedding (and was some years ago so not sure if "home made" is ok?) It would mostly be shredded printer paper, junk mail etc....
Hi newbird, we take all types of shredded paper. Would you like us to collect it or would you like to drop it off at the centre? my email is tonto13.mj@googlemail.com roosterbri, Thanks for the rugs and saddle.
I would just like to say a big thank you to Woodies news and the people of Angmering who have started to bring the old papers back to the shop for Ferring Country Centre to collect on a friday. It is really helping to bed down the centres horses. We provide in the region 600 therapy sesions a month to adults and childeren with different disabilities from all over west sussex. The centre relys on donations and this weekly collection has really helped in keeping our horses bedded down and warm this winter. So please, if you can find the time, drop your papers off to Woodies news Also! This Sunday(18th) the centre is holding a Santas Groto! 10am to 4pm! Bring your kids down for a pony ride and meet Santa
