I had my ghasted flabbered this morning. I had not been to the swimming pool for sometime, it will be sometime before it happens again as well.
Parking in pool car park:

1 hour = £1 Almost reasonable

2 to 4 hours = £3 Blind robbery

Probably a reasonable time in the baths especially for mothers of young children is 1 1/2 to 2 hours with changing and time in the pools etc. Why can it not go up in 1 hour increments of £1.

Thats my winge for the day............lol

Do they not refund the parking costs at reception for swimmers - they used to. The charges were to deter beach goers.

The swimming centre doesn't refund anymore, if memory serves it stopped last year sometime.... I agree it is very expensive but unfortunatly all parking is these days (with the exception of 'disc' parking) do not get me started on Worthing car parks! My son has lessons at the pool and you can get a parking sticker for these even though we are not members. I would ask in the centre, we had to pay £1.00 for it so I don't know if this applies to all non-members who wish to use the pool but don't want to join.....?

Worthing? Use the Waitrose car park, spend a fiver and get out free, 80% of the time the barriers aren't manned anyway.

I like that idea, however you still (technically) are paying a fiver to park if you don't need anything from Waitrose! I like the sneaky-ness though I must say!

It's not really costing a fiver if you buy stuff that you would buy anyway. However, Waitrose is a pricey shop so most of the stuff is likely to be more expensive than at some other supermarkets. So I would say the 'real' cost is likely to be about a pound - although only if you stick close to the minimum £5 spend. If you get carried away and spend more then you're probably paying far more for 'free' parking than if you'd just paid for two hours in a normal car park. I've always assumed this to be Waitrose's cunning plan - why else would they allow two hours free parking, far longer than any reasonable shop would take, if not to trick 'non' Waitrose customers into paying Waitrose prices!

As I said, the barrier is hardly ever manned anyway and sometimes even the entrance barriers are up so you can't take a ticket even if you wanted to. I go there at least once a week and it's been a long time since I saw the exit barrier manned.

Park - do your shopping - return .... barrier unmanned? Thank you very much! Barrier manned? Go and have a cup of coffee and a sandwich in the cafe or something. So the 'real cost' over a period of time with, say 80% of that time with the barrier unmanned, is more like 20p

I'd rather give it to Waitrose and toss the goods than give it to NCP anyway
