Has anyone noticed the presence of Traffic Wardens or 'parking supervisors' in the village on Saturdays? Thankfully with their help the traffic now flows swiftly through the village and all former congestion problems have been solved!!

There was a traffic warden outside the co-op today, checking cars, tax discs, and photographing them .

he was out there enforcing yesterday evening... spotted him ticketing - (and what looked like lecturing) some guy in a van in the disabled bay outside co-op... about time, loads of people park there who shouldn't, but to have him standing on the bottom of the high street as he was, almost pouncing on people as they pull up, does seem a little extreme, but arun may find it easy money as lots of people do park there

(edited for typos)

I saw one putting tickets on vehicles at the bottom of the High Street, opposite Woodies, last Saturday I think it was. I don't see any problem with that, as the signs and lines clearly state that it is a no parking area.

There have been many cases of posting comments on this website over the years, indicating that Arun DC and the local PCSO do not enforce the parking restrictions in the village, for the disabled bay outside the Co-op, overstaying in front of the shops particularly by people who work there and stay all day, thereby preventing potential customers to the village shops, and no parking at all restrictions, so I'm in favour of the recent action.

Where I think it's strange, is why the local council deemed not to continue the parking restriction, a little further up the High Street, where the road rises and narrows in front of the three terraced houses, before the road widens.

There are usually 4 or 5 vehicles parked there, I imagine it was due to those three properties not having garages and thus providing on road parking, but I doubt the residents always get in there first and it causes a problem when having to drive wide to pass them up the incline, when vehicles are coming down. There is insufficient room for three widths of vehcles and I have seen problems there.

I am surprised they allow parking on the hill by Woodies.

They were in the village today and I saved someone some grief. The warden, or whatever they are called, was doing a ticket for a car parked outside our shop. It was in the last bay, which unlike the other bays is a side on bay (as opposed to being at right angles to the road) but the car had parked across it.

I asked if that was why he was doing a ticket, he said no, it was because it was a restricted bay and the vehicle had been there for over an hour.

I walked him to the restriction sign which shows that only the bays to its right are restricted, he thanked me, said he didn't know the area!

I suppose the driver of the vehicle would have to somehow prove he or she was not in a restricted bay - not sure how you'd do that, even if you took a photo, you could have moved there after being ticketed in a restricted bay.

I think the yellow line at the bottom of the high st should be removed, it causes no danger or obstruction to park there, a line the same length on the hill/bend would be far more sensible.

Quite agree BFA, yellow line should be removed from bottom of the High Street, and a line of the same length to be put on the hill/bend

Thanks Patty, I see that SW was requested to pursue this. I see that this was June last year, has there been any feed back from this.
