It has been suggested that there is a separate topic for events in the village where people can post details. There is, of course, an Events/Diary on the AVL site, but many people bypass this on their way to the Forums!

While there is a separate Forum here for organisations, many people miss them, hence this "Sticky" topic in the General Forum.

So, event organisers, start posting here!

To go with their Angmering in Bloom Award it might not be a bad idea for The Spotted Cow to apply a lick of paint. For a pub in a prosperous village it hardly does itself justice.

If you follow the financial plight of 'Punch Taverns' who own the Spotted Cow along with thousands of other freehold pubs throughout the country, clearly the price of a pot of paint is out of the question at present.

Not sure about that Guiseppe when a Gin and Tonic and a Whiskey and American cost £9-80 a lot of tins of paint can be purchased. Also Punch shares have taken a big hike recently.

COMMUNITY CENTRE 5TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

On Saturday 4th October Angmering Community Centre Association (ACCA) will be celebrating the 5th Birthday of the opening of Angmering Community Centre. The Centre itself is owned by Angmering Parish Council but operated under a 25 year lease to the ACCA. The ACCA have arranged a whole range of activities between 10.00am and 6.00pm on that day. From 10.00am to 1.30pm, events will be largely aimed at children, while the afternoon events are more (but not entirely) adult orientated.

In the morning, there will be Face Painting, Owls about Town, Robbie the Magician, Angmering in Bloom Bulb Planting, plus demonstrations from many of the Centre's hirers including Choi Kwang Do, Activ8, Mathemagical, Boogiebeat, YogaPlay, and the Angmering School of Dance. All these activities are completely FREE! You can also have a Photograph taken by the Angmering Camera Club (for a nominal charge to cover costs), and there will be a special appearance from Bubbles the Pony (nominal Charge for Rides).

From 1.30pm adults will have a chance to try out activities offered by some of the groups and clubs based in the Centre. These will include the "Young at Heart" joint Albion/Arun fitness programmes, the IT Club, Wii Games, Foxwood Short Mat Bowls Club, Angmering Table Tennis Club, Liz Downs' Zumba Gold, Angmering WI Hand Chimes, Angmering Hand Bells, and Angmering Voices Choir. The afternoon's activities will end with a Tea Dance by Simply Sequence Dancing. Refreshments will be available throughout the day with Cream Teas in the afternoon.

Additionally, display boards in the Refreshment Area will have details of all the activities performed in the Community Centre, plus a photo display of contruction of the Centre from digging of the first turf until completion.

See www.angmeringvillage.co.uk/news/ACCA-BirthdayProg.pdf for full programme of events.

FUN DAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR NEW ANGMERING SPORTS CLUBHOUSE

Angmering Sports and Recreation Association are hosting a fun day and car boot sale at the Palmer Road Recreation Ground, just off Arundel Road on Saturday the 4th of June. The fun day aims to raise funds to kick-start their ambitious plans to replace their existing clubhouse with a new set of changing rooms, storage facilities and function room.
The fun day is being supported by nearby St Margaret’s Primary School who will be running a number of stalls, the school is also raising money to support its own development plans.
The fun day itself will kick off at 12 noon and will run until 5pm. So far the attractions include:

Coles Fairground rides
Chandlers BMW display
BBQ
Ice cream van
Raffle and tombola
Bird of Prey display
Live DJ and music through into the evening

The car boot sale also starts at midday, although sellers can arrive from 9am. Its £7 for a car and £10 for vans, cars and trailers. All queries about the car boot should be directed to Bob Chapman on 07743 127268

The Sports Association would like to thank Angmering-based Chandlers BMW for supporting the event, providing funds to enable some advertising of the fun day, whilst Barclays Bank have also offered to provide some volunteers to help man stalls on the day. Coles Fairground will complete its three night stay on the 4th of June, arriving on Thursday the 2nd, rides will be in operation on Thursday and Friday evening from 6pm through to Saturday evening when a closing firework display will take place.

Wednesday is the annual village "May Day" celebration. This year it is St Wilfrids turn to host at the school in Arundel Road.

There is the usual procession which will lead from St Wilfrids to St Margerets and back to St Wilfrids for the crowning ceremony and traditional May dances.

There will be a little disruprtion to traffic in Arundel Road just after lunch time but all are welcome to watch the celebrations at St Wilfrids.

Just one event posted in six months!

Many thanks Neil, for including this sticky, and am surprised that so far no one has seen cause to make use of it.
So........I would like to be the first.
Community Tree Planting Day Sunday 13th March 2011.

Come along and plant a tree or two for the future. Everyone is welcome, and all ages.
We have a wonderful grant of some 520 tree whips, and this could enhance what is already an amazing area of open space.
I think we sometimes forget how lucky we are with what we have available in our village and to get this chance to improve the area even more promises to make this a fun day.
It should not be hard work planting these trees, they are only very small and each one has a stake and plastic sleeve to go with it for protection.
I would love to see as many youngsters helping out and will take along a roll of ribbon so that they can write their names on it and tie it around the trees/s they have planted, so enabling them to watch them grow along with themselves.
All being well, the youth bus will be there offering free refreshments and shelter, should the weather not be too helpful!

To enable us to have a rough idea to plan the planting and refreshments, could I ask you please to register your interest with the Parish Council office as soon as you can.
Look forward to seeing you on the day..
