Angmering Children and Family Centre

The LibraryThe WSCC Children and Family Centre in Angmering is located in part of the Library on Church Hill, Arundel Road, opposite St Margaret's Church, in the centre of the village. This attractive building was originally the village school and was constructed in 1853 and extended in 1880. (see Schools history)

What is a Children and Family Centre?

Families come in different shapes and sizes, with different strengths and needs. Our key aim is to work with communities and key partner organisations to help offer children and young people the best opportunities in life. The voices of children, young people and families will be at the heart of all we do. Our base is in the Angmering Library building, but we are already also running services from the new Angmering Community Centre (situated in Foxwood Avenue, Bramley Green), and we provide an outreach service for families across the area. We want to provide services when and where you need them, so please come in and see us or give us a call, so that we can work together to develop an effective, local service that the whole community use.

What can we provide?

All West Sussex Children and Family Centres provide information, advice and guidance on various aspects of family life for the extended family of children 0 – 19. Our staff are here to help answer your queries on local services, including childcare and activities for your child, as well as advice and opportunities for you as a parent. There are also links to other services, including health care, housing benefits, Jobcentre Play and many more.

Community artist, Su Cloud, will be running fun art workshops for children under 5, supported by their parents or carers.
All children will be encouraged to make and paint a clay tile and then help to install it in the Centre’s community garden as a permanent feature for present and future generations to come and enjoy!

Morning or afternoon workshops for three clay tile "making" sessions will be held on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th January as follows:

9.30am - 11.00am
11.00am - 12.30pm
1.15pm - 2.30pm

The tile "painting" sessions are now on Fri 22nd Jan, Thursday 4th February and Friday 5th February as follows:

10.00am - 12.00 Noon
12.30pm - 2.30pm

Installation of the tiles is planned for Friday 12th February.

Places are limited so let us know if you would like to take part. If we have too many requests, all families from the Angmering area who are registered with us by end of this year will go into a draw for available places. There is no charge for this activity.

Little Movers
Claire will be running music and movement for under 5’s, and their parents and carers, on Tuesday mornings from January.

This is a fun and active session particularly suited for children aged 18 months and over with 30 minutes of activity to music, followed by a snack and a 30 minute play session (when parents and carers can relax!)

Sessions on Tuesdays from 10-11 am starting on 5th January 2010. £2 per family.

Learning together as a family
A new 5-week course with video clips, discussions and practical activities giving families more ideas about playing and learning together. A crèche will be provided and each week there will be time for you to spend time on your own with the tutor and also joint time sharing activities with your children. Jo Rickard from Family Learning will be running this course at Angmering Community Centre in Foxwood Avenue.

Fridays 10am-12noon (times to be confirmed) from 26th February until 26th March 2010. There is no charge for this activity.
